Victoria Day

Hibiscus

Yesterday was Victoria day in honor of Queen Victoria. we went to the Phoenix Restaurant for lunch. not much else to do. there was a great thunder storm around supper time.
We got two 4 ft tall hibiscus trees and have had lots of beautiful flowers . They take up about half a gallon of water each day.
I am glad "The End" didn't come as predicted !

Today is May 21 and I am waiting for the end to come. The fire evacuation alarm is sounding here in the building and the man at the desk can't figure out how to switch on the intercom to tell us it is a false alarm (I Hope)
It reached about 78 degrees here today it was warm and sunny too.
I hope I wake up tomorrow.
Hear me Jesus I believe!

Rainy day blues

It's sunday the 15 th of May and it is raining. The Humber river is swollen and muddy as it pours into the Humber bay of Lake Ontario. The Muddy water is making a fan like shape in the bay against the cleaner waters of the lake. It is quite striking the brown flowing into the blue.
We went to Canadiana for lunch I had a cheese omlette it was good. there was a group or young guys in their 20s talking very loudly about comic book heros but the quieted down when the food came.

I saw the play The Railway Children last night in the theater built for it at the base of the CN Tower. It was a unique theatrical experience. It was the theater and set design that was the most amazing

A railway station was the stage and the tracks ran the length of the stage ,which were the platforms on each side .The audience were on either sides of the platforms.

A full size antique steam engine makes a dramatic appearance at the end of each act. Lots of steam billows during the production creating a realistic atmosphere. The story and the actors were good but the train was the star !

Some sad news for me.

We went to Dundas Grill a few weeks ago for dinner. I was expecting to see Michelle our waitress from Canadiana and Lucky Dice. When I asked the manager if she was working this evening he said" She is no longer with us" so I thought she quit or got fired but then he told me that she died. It still makes me feel so sad.We have known her for a long time at least 5 years.
She had surgery a few months ago and then was back at work but her face looked drawn and tired but she had a great smile and always called me "sweety"
it just goes to show you that you just can't take people for granted and on Mothers Day I am sure her children miss her very much
