I lost 4 pounds on my diet this week!

I am going to see "Fiddler on the Roof" tonight at the Canon theater in Toronto. It was formerly the Pantages Theater but Canon paid for the name change. That seems to be the fad now for corporations to give big money to change the name of venues. They almost did that to the Royal York Hotel. It was to become the Fairmont and they were going to remove the landmark sign on the building but there was a big stink and they settled for inserting Fairmont over the Royal York sign.

today I went to Niagara Falls and surrendered my NY license plates. Then went to Social Security and canceled my medicare and changed my address with social security. My relocation to Canada is now complete.

I started a new diet Tuesday to try to get my diabetes under control. It is for 1800 calories with 221 total carbs. So far I have not exceeded my daily limits and my glucose seems to be almost normal. best readings in a year.

I Saw "Tales of Hoffman" by Offenbach. broadcast live from the Metropolitan Opera at the IMAX theater. It was a wonderful production with great singing and acting. 

Going to see "Fiddler on the Roof" Tomorrow . Topal was supposed to star in it but had to quit because of health issues. It was supposed to be his farewell tour.

I obtained Canadian auto insuranace  on Wednesday and installed my Ontario license plates yesterday. I will go to NY monday to turn in my NY license plates.  It has been a long process and this is almost the final step. I have to notify Social Security of my move to Canada . I will do that this week also

I am going to see the Opera "The tales of Hoffmann" at the Cineplex theater broadcast live from the Metropolitan Opera. It is a real experience to see the opera this way really up close and great sound.

I got my Ontario drivers license yesterday.  I went to Service Ontario in downtown Toronto and got it right away. One of the striking workers told me where to get it. They are on strike for better working conditions and are not publishing the only place to get it is Service Ontario in downtown Toronto.  I have been waiting since August and could have got it there anytime.

I went to the big Ryerson Christmas Party last night at the Toronto Hilton as a guest of my friend Joe Lee .  It was nice ! lets see... there were rolls and butter , Baby spinach with pumpkin seed and crasins and a raspberry vinagarette,  Curried cauliflower soup, Parsley encrusted breast of chicken with red wine reduction, truffel mashed potato. buttered asparagras  cheesecake with lemon sauce

 

I got my Ontario Handicap permit today. got my first prescription filled on Ontario health there is an annual deductable of $100.00 so theis Rx cost me 48 dillars. I would cost 40$ copay in the states because it is a tear 3 drug.
I saw Dr.Taylor monday - my sugar and blood pressure are out of controll. he wants me back in a week. No charge paid by ontario health.

I have my Permanent residence card, My OHIP care and my SIN card. also imported my car and have Ontario plates but The drivers licence office is on strike so I can't get my Ontario licence and Canadian insurance companys will give me insurance with out it.
Allstate in NY continues to insure me with my NY plates still on the car.
I said good bye to Dr Hannan and have been accepted as a patient here in Toronto by Dr Martin Taylor. I saw hi today and he verified my handicap status.

I became a permanent resident of Canada July 30 2009 . It has taken many hours filling the seeming endless paperwork involved. I finally applied in April 2009 and it was accepted July 30. I was expecting many more months of waiting for this. I will retain my USA citizenship but will be able to apply for Canadian citizenship in 3 years. We will think on that at a later date

I applied for the Ontario health insurance card .It will become effective on October 30 and I have a  SIN # now ( Like a Social Security number). I am waiting now for the credentials to come in the mail.

I am so happy !

I received my temporary resident permit ( visitor  record) Last week . I am relieved. Sent in all the paperwork for the permenant resident card last month but may have to do the physical all over again. The whole month of april was devoted to medical tests concerning my heart health. All tests were  A-OK. My leg continues to swell daily and it is a real problem for me. Doctor has increased   diaretic and BP. Meds. we will see how that works.

Today is Victoria day here in Canada. went for Breakfast at 1:30 to Canadiana Restraunt.
